GLOBAL DOG POPULATION ECOLOGY & MANAGEMENT
Humane World for Animals (2020 - Present)
Free-roaming dogs are a global concern for animal welfare and public health. I have worked with the Monitoring, Evaluation and Impact Assessment team at Humane World for Animals since 2020 to design and evaluate roaming dog and cat management programmes across India, Southeast Asia, Europe, South America and Africa. My work focuses on understanding the factors underpinning the efficacy of sterilisation and rabies vaccination programmes among street dogs, as well as the ecology of owned and free-roaming dog populations and the human behaviours that shape them. Our research works with governments and local organisations to develop humane, evidence-based management strategies that reduce public health risks while improving animal welfare.
